By the end of this week I’d like to pick a new book for the book club to begin on March 2nd. Why March 2nd? Well, that’s the day we’re supposed to be done with “Invitation to a Beheading.”
So send me any book recommendations now so I can choose on Friday or Saturday.
If you aren’t familiar with #Tbookclub and the whole process then catch all the details here. Remember, we’ll have another 3 weeks so the finish date will be set at March 23rd this time.

First round…
Ok, so I compiled the list of books and for the first round I’m going to pick the book outright.
Invitation to a Beheading by Vladimir Nabokov
Get it cheap on Amazon or sacrifice your morals by stealing from one of those establishments known as libraries.
The three weeks start today. That means you should be done by 3/2.
For the books already submitted, I will keep those in a list but feel free to keep submitting ideas. And don’t forget to add #Tbookclub to all your book related tweets. Good hunting.

So folks, I got good feedback about the proposed Twitter book club.
Here are the general rules:
- You have until Sunday (2/8) to nominate a book for us to read. Comment here or go to the Contact page to find a plethora of ways to get in touch with me.
- No Twilight, Harry Potter, Danielle Steele, etc. I reserve the right to reject a book on these grounds.
- The number of books submitted will determine the selection process for the first go around. After the selection everyone has three weeks to read.
- Twitter your thoughts on any books before, during, and after reading it. Just don’t give away spoilers before the 3 weeks are up.
- When you Twitter about anything book club related just add #Tbookclub somewhere in your tweet.
- Anyone is free to join at any point.
More information to follow. If all goes well I’ll set this puppy up on it’s own domain. But for now, lljn.org will be your stop for all Twitter book club related news.
Catch me on twitter @leifnordberg.

It’s been done before. People read a book and they tweet their thoughts as they read. When it comes time to tweet they just add a tag on the end (like #something). Then a Twitter search of the tag returns all the interesting, and uninteresting, tweets. We’d want to aim for interesting.
Here’s the issue: the books that have been done before suck. Twilight? Harry Potter? No, no. This will not do.
So, I want to see what type of interest there would be out there for starting our own Twitter book club. If you’re interested then please speak up. We will need a time window in which we will be expected to read a book (3 weeks?) and maybe some other ground rules (no tweeting spoilers until the reading window has closed). We will also need suggestions for our tag, ya know, that pound thing.
What I will then do is make an RSS feed out of the Twitter search results for said tag and put it on a nicely formated page on this site.
Lastly, I propose a way we pick what book to read. I suggest that you send, to me, a short blurb (one or two sentences – absolutely no more than a paragraph) that supports your pick for a book. I’ll then put the picks up on the site here, complete with blurb, and let people vote on it.
Yay democracy.
If more people than expected join and the number of book recommendations sent to me gets too high, then I’ll just pick the 5 or so most convincing blurbs and put those up for a vote. Deal? Ya dig?
What else have I overlooked?
