My inauguration

I really should have beaten Obama to the punch since I’ve been working on this site for a couple of weeks now.

What gives you say? What gives indeed. At first, I went back and forth between CMS or no CMS. Did I want something that was a decent amount of work upfront, but that could grow with me? Or did I want to go hardcore and rock onward and upward without a flexible, scalable platform to build upon and have to piece things together further down the road?

I ultimately sided with CMS. Anyone in the know could probably tell that (psst, check the footer). I went back and forth on which one to use. I have some prior knowledge of CMS platforms, but nothing too extensive. I researched a bunch. I’ll yadda yadda yadda this since it’s definitely not the best part.

At first, the simpleness of WordPress drew me in since, hey, I wanted to build something minimalist anyways. I quickly discarded the WP idea for something more attractive than just ease of use: open source. More yadda yadda yadda.

I ultimately sided on Drupal. This where you make some relationship joke about Drupal: it’s difficult to jump into, its got a huge community of people in love with it, and it has these wild undulations in its personality, going from approachable to beyond confusing, and back. So just imagine the joke.

Eventually, not wanting to pour anymore time into one of my infinite number of side projects, I uninstalled Drupal. I Threw WordPress on this bad boy and found the wonderful little theme before you. Took about 30 minutes. 30 minutes after I wasted two weeks making my own mockups, trying out other CMS platforms, and failing at my Drupal experiment.

Yeah, so the code isn’t mine. I’m disappointed too. This will be my filler until I get something more me up. But honestly, I like it.
