Unrelated to BP destroying the gulf, and very much related to nostalgia: Pete and Pete easily holds the biggest real estate in my heart when it comes to childhood television love¹. Second place probably belongs to You Can’t Do That on Television, but my concern is that it doesn’t likely stand up over time like P&P most certainly does.

¹ Not to be confused with childhood television romantic interest. That belongs to my first crush, Penny.

Backlash grows to 'anti-British rhetoric' - Financial Times →

Boris Johnson, the Conservative mayor of London, launched an attack on Thursday on what he called the “anti-British rhetoric that seems to be permeating from America”. His statement typified the growing British backlash against the perceived scapegoating of BP by Barack Obama.

Just in time for the USA’s World Cup opener against England on Saturday. Maybe it takes an epic disaster to get American’s interested in soccer/football (delete according to country of origin).

Oil aside, I stand by my previous prediction:

Revolutionary War… War of 1812… on June 12th we make it 3-0. Warming up by wasting tea and punching people in red.

Senator Grassley, you are confused

Beer is pretty magical. I’m a little down from a night of extra magic, so know that I’m still able to write that without waivering. Or queasy-ing. My faith is strong.

However, Senator Grassley of Iowa apparently thinks we’re making malted miracles. That is to say, he thinks the yeast, “or what it is in making beer,” consumes oil and can fix the little BP v nature kerfuffle.

Better go with a top-fermenting yeast, Senator. Maybe try a saison strain to work with the hot temperatures down in the Gulf. (Non-beer geeks need not concern themselves with these words.)

Or, just do a Google search before you embarrass yourself.

Between BP and Senator Grassley’s courageous efforts, we’ll soon have enough awful ideas to plug the hole. Sorry, I meant holes. Sorry, I meant ears. I give an over-under of a week before most everyone tunes out and forgets.
